I would be interested in all opinions regarding a transaction with a forum member. I sold a reel via ebay and the buyer, a member of this forum, posted on this forum that he was the successful bidder. Having dealt with quite a few of the members here I sent the reel before receiving payment as I have always found people here very honest. Reel was sent 3 July - still no payment. I sent reminder pm's and eventually the guy responded over 2 weeks later to say he had lost my details - I sent the info to him but still no payment. Have since sent further reminder pm's - but still no response even though the guy has logged on to the forum several times throughout this period. I have now lodged a dispute via ebay - still no response from the buyer. Lesson is do not post items until money is received - question also arises, should I make forum members aware of this guy so that they do not make the same mistake I did? - I have no time for people like this and if he can't do the honest thing he must need the £47 more than I do. Hate to see someone else get caught by this guy, whether it be here or on ebay.

Hmmmm tricky Always a shame when you're let down like that, even worse when it's someone whome you think is going to be reliable through a common interest I'd be inclined to keep it within the confines of eBay for the time being and go through their process for non-payment to conclusion first. I confess that I would then be tempted - when all else has failed - to indulge in some name and shame as a very very last resort. Sorry to hear you've had the situation at all

Since the defaulter took the step of bragging on the forum that he bought the item, I don't think it should be out of order to politely remind him (via the same link) that he still needs to pay. Anything other than such a polite reminder may be taken as abuse and therefore contrary to the rules of the site.
Unfortunately I've never had a satisfactory resolution to a problem via ebay, you can get your fees back and ebay may issue a non payment strike, but I often find such people and repeat offenders and playing games. Surely if he couldn't afford the reel he would have sent it back!

if its the link in classifieds, i dont think you need to much else other than as already been suggested. I managed to find it, so anyone else interested can do likewise.

If it is said member on the classifieds, he's named and shamed himself.
But if it isn't said member I think it only fair you let us know.

I have bought a lot of fishing gear on eBay and sold some as well. Sometimes late payment from a buyer has been due to genuine circumstances and an apology is often given. I simply wouldnt post items until payment was made no matter who it was, not because I dont trust most people, but it saves all the grief you are experiencing. I thought that it was possible to obtain the phone number of the other party through eBay. Dont know if it would help to give him a ring, although that is your call. Given that you have invoked the dispute process with eBay, it might not be wise to name and shame him in a public forum even although he appears to have made a good job of that himself. I know some of my mates would send the boys round! Mike

As i explained in my pm to beanieboy which was replied to less than 24 hours of him sending it.. I posted the cheque out to him approx 10 days ago. I have also been away for a few days and can only apologise if he has not received the cheque but only royal mail can answer that one. As i also complied with ebay procedure and as i said to beanieboy in my pm as soon as i cancel said cheque i will post another. I am also going to send him a postal order first class recorded so he does not have to wait on a cheque clearing. I have no problem with this post although its not something i would have done myself until ebay policy had been followed through.I apologise to beanieboy if he thought he had been ripped off but can assure him this is not the case. I also have a 100 percent rating with ebay after 70odd transactions .

Without going into detail regarding the number of messages I have sent and your previous promises to pay I will take your undertaking this time in good faith and will expect you to do the honourable thing.
