Hi
I'm fishing the Tay tomorrow and after a weekend of tying up some lovely wee 10's, 12's and 14's i've found out that the water is high at the moment. Anybody got any personal favourite big water patterns they could suggest??

Granters,
I prefer Gold head tubes or the Templedog style of fly. Also not adverse to fishing say a size 4 casacade. I think the depth a nd speed a more important than the fly. Which beat are you on?

At this time of year I'd follow Jones's advice - gold head PBPs or Cascades.
Anything with yellow/orange/gold/copper colour variations.
Weight of fly according to speed of current and depth.

fishing one of the top beats, Findynate (kindly offered by Donnie). I actually have a bag full of templedogs from my last Tay visit. I'd never heard of this beat to be honest but i love trying new stretches out, especially ones that people tend to ignore. Looking forward to it. intermediate with a Templedog sounds good to me, better than work anyway!

Let us know how you get on granters, I'm up there meself for a day or two at the end of next week, many thanks Donnie . We were kinda hoping to be using the sunray shadows that I'm currently tying *. Anyone know if these flies are any good in a heavy flow. I'll probably do a few extra cascades/WGs just to be safe. *Failing that, I think Donnie has some Rapalas ;D

Salmondan,
Defo give the sunrays a shot in big water, especially on an intermediate. Keep the size big and fish it fairly fast.

(I know roughly what they look like, but would like a goal to work towards if I am to tie some myself) thanks in advance, F
