Hi everybody
I am new on your board, it looks like very interesting. Just a quick note about me, I am a french canadian (so my english might be strange sometime) living in Quebec city. Atlantic Salmon angler for 31 years now, I fish reglarly rivers in the eastern part of the province of Quebec, like Matapedia, Patapedia, Kedgwick, Matane, Ste Anne, Rimouski and some other in the province.
I have spent lot of time in the last couple years as executive for the Quebec Atlantic Salmon Federation (the regional council of the ASF), has also been involved as president of the Association responsible of the development of the river Rimouski for 3 years.
The main reason I wish to participate to your board is to have more information about fishing in Scotland, since I am planning a trip in your majestic country, maybe next summer. I am more a "Do It Yourselfer", than a potential client for a big outfit, for me, to discover a river and how to have a fish on is a major part of the fun, and my budget will probably not allow me to access to the prime water in your country.
I will read you with interest, thank you in advance for any suggestion you could provide.

There are many on this forum far better qualified than me to give you advice on Scottish rivers/beats/accomdation. However I wish you a warm welcome. ATB Robbie

Dear Pierre Perhaps as a starter I could suggest the North East coast of Scotland (As low as Inverness) due to the fact that some of the tactics used there, with fish more recently arrived from the feeding grounds and more willing to come to the surface etc, will be more likely to have been used by you already. Of course there are the other places with generally differing tactics but you can go down to the Tay with good chances of success but without breaking the bank. If you're not familiar with double handed rods then don't worry, it really isn't hard to learn to cast, especially for someone with many years experience of single handed rods.
