People who pose with fish, while gripping the rod handle in their teeth. What is that all about? How do you do it? Beach the fish, stick 15' rod in mouth, then pick up salmon? It can't be easy in a fast flowing river, especially if you have false teeth. ;D

A bare arse going up and down like a council worker's jack hammer in some very long riverbank reeds. Didn't stay long enough to ask what the calf thought about it all. And I jesteth not.

My father stood on the bank at Applegarth (Annan) wringing his shirt out (face like thunder) after realising that rolling waders down to the waist and then not noticing large rocks isn't clever. Still makes me smile when I think of the look he gave me when I told him about the ST I'd just caught whilst he was getting wet . Father again, pished, half asleep, on the bank at Aberlour (Spey). Retarded labrador jumping on his pods. Complete agony (for him). Fantastic visual comedy (for us).

Had a similar experience a few years back returning a Tyne springer with Tyneandrew observing from the far bank.
Fish landed and unhooked very cool and professionally, then managed to go go into the water after it while holding it in the stream to recover.
Just glad he didn't have a camera!

Fishing with a mate one day i managed to hook a grilse. As usual none of us had bothered to bring the net so i decide to hand him the rod, climb the high bank then draw the fish into him with the intention that he would tail the fish and lob it up the bank.
This was executed to perfection. We quickly dispatched the fish then after the hand shaking, back slapping and well done's i then turned around and managed to walk into a hidden hole in the bank which led me into what can only be described as, on your marks go. Diving 4 foot into the river, luckily there was no rocks or i was a goner.
Lay almost bollock naked on the bank and dried oot with a rather red face.

Abbey St Bathans October 2003. Into the fish of a lifetime, my Dad turns up when I'm struggling to land it. Hand him the rod turn to land the fish. Fish legs it and the hook comes out. Turn around and my dad's had his hand gripped around both the fly line and handle. Asks me if he should have let it take some line? B*stard. It then proceeded to p*ss it down with rain. Four years on and he never tires of telling the story.

No luck James - but hey, look on the bright side - if you weren't out fishing that day, you could have been at work. ;D ;D
