How many members of this forum are lady anglers? My own observations on the river bank seem to suggest that while a considerable number of the fair sex may be found casting an expert fly on private beats their numbers are few on association waters. Over then years I have only met one lone female angler, Forres AA and she indeed could cast an expert line. Is it not time that we gave the other half of the population some encouragement to partake in the supreme art of fly fishing for salmon?

ibm59 and smokiesalmon good points, perhaps I did not make myself clear enough, I knew what was inside the old cranium but did not put it down in the post. The jist being that there are a lot of h--rs and comic singers aka politicians who would like to ban all forms odf country sports. We need as many people as possible on our side hence the need for lady anglers. The trouble is if they are anything like the fairer sex I encounterd in 20 years of running a sea angling charter boat, they usually are capable of giving us males a sound whippiing. nothing kinky here before you start, when it comes to catching fish.

Ultimate Wild Water But seriously , you're quite right about getting the far fairer sex on our side. There's quite a few about on the trout side of things but I've yet to meet my first lady salmon fiend . How would you go about it though ?

Dont Know ibm59 . I think my original post mentioned a lady of the Forres Angling Assoc , a very independent person of indetermined age but certainly over 21, and by all accounts an expert angler. I know salmon angling is a male dominated sport at club level so I would think that the first step would be to encourage partners, daughters and sisters to have a go. We all know fishing gets us away from the domestic environment and, "her indoors". In the past decades I have seen other outdoor sports walking and climbing becoming accepting and acceptable to the fair sex. I see no reason why salmon angling should not be the same.

Well Lord alone knows smokiesalmon but we will have to be strong and resist the temptations of perfume and scent among the male clan. One thing the worst looking female angler I have ever met is ten times better looking than the best looking male!
