Don't know about the Spey but someone will give you advice. Islabank will have fish in it but you will have to work hard to get them out. I would guess if you battered it non-stop for 10 hours with Rapalas, Flying c's and Tobies you'd probably get something. When I was there I never took the fly rod out of the car. I think they have a new ghillie since then so you might get some help and advice - I certainly didn't! To be honest, I wouldn't recommend it but that's just my opinion. The pool at the top of the beat had a lot of fish just above it so the best bet was to stand right on the boundary line and give a good chuck upstream - either that or poach fish from the church! ;D ;D

Yo scotty, if you were trying the isla you could fish the opposite side (keithick AC) from Islabank for £15. The permits are available in Kate Fleming's in Blairgowrie.

Hail Scottyboy,in short don't unless you have nowhere else to go,haven't fished for weeks or need to loose some money pointlessly.Islabank is not a classic Salmon fishery, its all spinning/bait water with a couple of little streamy bits for the fly, most of it is like a canal and umpteen feet deep.It does produce a few Salmon as I said mainly to spinners,a few fish fall to the fly usually tiny waking tubes etc.You may enjoy it here but in all honesty you wont. How do I know?I fished here every school hols. for years as a boy/youth caught my first Salmon here and usually had the place to myself,as soon as I knew better and had some brass in the pocket I moved on.Do a spot more home work and look a bit deeper elsewhere.Pedro.
