Depressing I know, but with a good few rivers already in close season, and not long before others fall to the same wintery peace, who's going where before we pack up our kit till next year. Me, I've got a couple of days in the final week on the Earn at Kinkell Bridge, if we get the rain, the possibility of hitting the Endrick (feeds into Loch Lomond), up at Balfron - so needs the rain, and of course we normally do a day or two on the Tweed in November, but I'll need to check Cardrona to see if the "new rules" apply i.e, no day water. Where's everyone else going - and will it be dependant on rain / water height ? Altmor.

It is the Wear for me. I can fish this at a minutes notice as I live close to the river. Had other offers but I like my home patch and the knowledge gained in the last 35 years. (God I feel old) Regards WM

West water and South Esk for the last 10 days of October with a day or 2 on the Don while I'm in the area. The West Water is entirely dependant on water, not so sure about the Don and The Esk will be okay with a rise at some stage. In November I've got 4 days on the Annan (never fished it before) followed by the "forum" day at Lower Caberstoun. Maybe look for something reasonably priced on the Tweed later on. December - 3 days on the River Camel! By the time my waders dry out I'll be on the Tummel and Tay in January again.

Off tomorrow to the "Sunny" North East to fish the Deveron for a week. Looks like it might be a bit on the low side but I can but try. There is a pub at the end of the beat....so it won't be a totally "dry" week. The following week I'll be having a day with the "fishing machine " Macsalmo on the Annan. That will probably be that, unless I get awakened from hibernation, until the weather warms up in January. Cheers, Jock

Week on Tweed in late October early November spread over three beats with lots of fishing chums some of who only meet up once a year.Hopefully a few fish no matter what the conditions may bring and most definitely lots of beers in Burts of an evening and lots of tall tales told too.Sadly thats it for the year most disappointing but thats life. This weekends bash on the Towy/Cothi suffered postponement due to arsy neighbors blocking access to my drives.Spent the last few days moving walls instead of fishing, life sucks at times.Pedro.

Fingers crossed and weather permitting I will have a couple of days on the Tweed beginning of November. Beers a plenty in Burts. That is after I have had a few days fishing on the Yorkshire Esk. So bring on some rain and the fish. Then I will be going off shooting and hunting. So my winter is already planned.

Cheers, Jock Jock , i fear you will find a very low stale Deveron unless there is a fair drop of precipitation . We had a hard week with 3 fish ,all returned with a -1" on the gage at Muiresk . We loved it .

Just back now from a week on the Annan, three days on Hoddom and three on dryforlm. Loads of fish about, especially in the Duke's pool on Hoddon and under the wires on Dryfolm, but all black. I didn't have a thing all week, just one pull on Friday. The river is terribly low and needs water badly. Hope the forcasted rain arrives for anyone going up this week, if it does the fishing should be great! Now, having not caught I guess I just have to try and fit in another day before the end of the season, just in case.....
