Commonty beat on Ballogie is not always fully let early on, they have self- catering available for up to 5/6. Will find contact through FishDee website. Beat is not as good as some, but you might be lucky with water conditions.

Kincausie on the lower Dee is a no bad one, only £25-£30 a day as well. Plenty fish come off it every year.

Kenny I don't think reference to 'good kelt days' is anything to sell on! I wasn't doing that TA,PARK had 95 kelts on opening day and 2 springers as well as the opening day ceremony for the beat. There were 38 springers caught and released for the month which is a reasonable number by most peoples expectations, and the beat was lightly fished as it was no where near fully let, and for under £60 per day quite reasonable value in my opinion. If you know of comparable February sport on the Dee or any other river please let our readers know as i'm sure they would like to know about it.Unfortunately as the Dee has a good sized back end run into the lower river there are a lot of kelts around as well as the best spring run anywhere in Scotland.By and large the Kelts are away by end of April and there is a substantial run of fabulous springers. The fish like to lie in company so you catch springers as well as kelts early on in the same lies.Hope this clarifies TA that the lower Dee system has a lot going for it especially in low cold water,at least i think so.I for one will be doing a fair bit of fishing there and i know I will get the best chances of early season success there.I have also fished the Tay and Tweed in February, often, but know now the Lower Dee is a far more productive spot for early season sport.
