Just got this info and i thought I would share it with you all.
These are to go up in stages over the next three years and will remain national. (e.g. full Salmon licence will be £68 in 2008, £70 in 2009, £72 in 2010) All other licences are going up but the junior licence for everything will be pegged at £5.
So now you know what you will be paying to fish in England and Wales and possibly Scotland on the Border Esk.

Hello Wilbert as a Scottish angler the EA will hopefully never recieve a penny from me in license fees, the surrender of the Border Esk to their jurisdiction was nothing short osf a disgrace. Please prove me wrong in that and tell me what the EA contributes to angling interests.

Bugger all. They provide a few bailiffs that do an excellent job but are under resourced and over stretched. They are good at stopping many projects from happening and are not very good at starting their own projects. The organization is top heavy with management changing position too frequently to be effective and to fully understand the problems they are faced with. Year after year the angling clubs are doing more and more of the work for the EA. I dont mind paying the licence fee I just wish that there were less chiefs and more indians in the organization. It is far from perfect but neither are some of the river boards from what I have read about them.
