Back from a week fishing Ballogie and Commonty with less to report than I'd like.
Our party managed 1 from Commonty and 3 from Ballogie, with a number of other fish met but not cooperating fully! I only managed 3 kelts and one very exciting fish which gave an unseasonal leap clear of the water on taking the fly and dashed around the pool before calmly letting go of the fly.
The fish landed came from Middle Slips, Bridge Pool, Bulwarks and Three Points, but fish were also met in the Upper Gannet, Top Slips, Inchbare, Garden and Loop. It was really a matter of being in the right place at the right time when one of the few running fish came through. That or scraping the bottom to pick up one of the few resident fish. Three of the four were fish that had been in for at least a month, the best of them the 22 pounder from the Bulwarks.
With winter giving way to spring as we left Deeside on Sunday, I am just pleased that I have the chance to try again in a month's time.
