Hi All,
I have been offered the first week of the season next year at Ardoe and Murtle on the Dee.. Has anyone fished there and is there any prospect of a springer at that time? Would I be better off paying to fish elsewhere at that time?
Any thoughts would be welcome. Simon

I would agree with G Ritchie in regard to spring fishing on A & M. I would fish there from August onwards. Can be smashing at the end of the season. Good facilities and a helpful guide. Not at all featureless but not as majestic as some Dee beats. However, if you want fairly inexpensive late season fishing on the Dee, try just further up at Kingcausie or Blairs.
Knappach is a reasonably priced beat with the chance of a springer. Invery and Park are very good but the prices are high.

Good advice there, look further upstream in the spring but do consider the A&M waters towards the back end or for Sea Trout from around June onwards. Certainly Park is the premier beat in the spring but Crathes not quite as expensive and probably almost as good Mind you, they're probably both booked out by now Come a few weeks later and fish the Don instead ;D

Or you might try Manar, Fetternear or indeed the ADAA waters available on a day ticket. There's plenty of choice but Inverurie area is most probably the best bet for a spring fish. That said, Monymusk nearly always fishes well

I have a soft spot for Castle Forbes, and would fish it before Monymusk, although it probably fishes better in May or June.
