from what i hear.... there are the odd Grilse starting to show on the Ericht, although i've yet to see one myself !!! mind you i'm new to this game!! The river is up a bit today... about six inches.... and i'm sure there will be a few fish about just now! From my experience the Ericht is a bit hit and miss.... or more miss and miss but one thing you always do see is fish! I think the Blairgowrie AC is £30 a day?? for day tickets? possibly even a bit cheaper? and at this price you cant complain..... Lots of nice fly water and a few nice spinning pools..... most people fish the lower part... as thats where the carpark is! but all of the pools from the Lade pool down are my favourites.... but the are plenty of other spots further up... you might just need a machette to get through the 6ft tall weeds! ;D As for any other info..... Kelliefly is the expert! I have a few picsw of the Ericht under another section of the site....... so have a look if you want! all the best, John

there has been some very heavy showers in Blairgowrie this evening and tonight with some expected through to the early hours...... i'd expect the Ericht and the Isla to rise a bit more tomorrow...... and probably colour up a bit more too.......there will definitely be fish about! So good luck to you! John.

A bit of doom & gloom i'm afraid . water looked fine today little bit of colour & dropping slowly this afternoon .........Just no fish coming through. I spoke to a guy at the club car park who said nothing had been seen in the lower club water today either ..just not there in any numbers yet . Dissapointed to say the least i'll probably be working when the next water comes . Jock

Bugger!! Its always the same way with that bloody river!! Everytime it looks perfect for fish you dont see a thing.......thats fishing i suppose...... people always say "they'll be there" but at least seeing them gives you a bit of hope! Stick with Rainbows...its easier! hahahaha

Don't know if it's the same on the Ericht, but the main grilse run usually enters our smaller spate rivers after the third big spate in July. I've heard that this is enough to clear all the debris out the river and offer better conditions for the fish

those trees have fair grown in the cementers since i was last down...... lost many a fly in them trying to cast tight in! ;D A nice pic all the same!! I should re-list all my old pics under the same heading "The Ericht with no fish in it" John.

Scottyjock, Is that the Grange of Aberbothrie beat in the photograph? Think I recognise the run to the trees on the opposite bank (likely looking spot for a taker). Fished it a couple of times, but think you would have to be there at the exact moment the fish leave Cupar Grange and start heading upstream. Some cracking brownies linger in the slower pools near the bridge

Hi John
Similar pool eh? The pool in my photo is on Grange Of Aberbothrie about a mile below the club water . Have you heard of any fish yet they should be anytime now there will be the odd one to be had before the main run arrives .

Hi Fruin, Thats the very pool Your right about the timing too just when they start to run are there many getting caught at coupar grange yet ? The pool above the bridge could have done with a wee bit more water yesterday.

Scottyjock,
I've not heard how they are fairing at Coupar Grange, but I imagine that in the lower water, they will be getting a few fish.
