Seems to be a few fish being caught now.
Hopefully there will be a steady build up of fish between now and 9 April, when Steve and I are fishing there.

Good luck for the 9th, hope you get to put a few in the book, but no matter what happens, you will enjoy it!! Pete and Hamish are excellent and will look after you. We will be following you 2 weeks later when, hopefully, there will be even more sealicers about.

Hi Guy's, I will be on lower wester elchies for the week from the 9th of April. So hopefully there will be a few fish about by then. ;D
Its my first time fishing the Spey & can't quite figure out from the fishspey site & maps which beats follow which. Craigellachie is down stream of Easter Elchies which is down stream of Wester Elchies yes??
Any hints or tips for the river at this time?
Tight Lines Graeme

I am fishing Craigellachie next friday and saturday, so hopefully some forum member will get a springer from the beat in the next month. ( fingers crossed)
Does anyone know what access to the beat is like for low-slung cars?
Cheers, Simon

Cheers, Simon Hi Simon, Access is good to the huts top and bottom, just may have to take it easy on the bottom road. You will be walking to the pools from the huts, it's not that far!! Campbells and Broom Isle being the furthest away. You will drive or be driven to the Boat of Fiddich car park then a short walk to the pool. Enjoy!!

Tight Lines Graeme From the top of the river left bank, Wester Elchies, Lower Wester Elchies, (the Haugh), Macallan, Easter Elchies, depending on the age of your map Macallan might not be mentioned as it used to be part of Easter Elchies, On the other bank you have Aberlour Association Water oppersite the Haugh then Craigellechie which is across from part of the Haugh and Macallan and Easter Elchies. Tips Wham it out and let it come round, the trick in the spring is to cover water and hopefully fish.

If I may add to your excitment a little I caught a fish covered in long tail sea lice just a little further downstream on Saturday where I was lucky enough to be a guest for the day. They're headin' your way.......

There are a few more fresh fish on the go now and Macallan ( opposite Craigellachie ) had their first fish yesterday. Also yesterday, Arndilly had 7, and both Wester Elchies and the Aberlour AA had another fish each. Aberlour AA now up to 16 for their season.
There may well be a couple of less familier faces to greet the guests at Craigellachie this season, unfortunately not Elle and Claudia who are busy at Newtyle, providing Jock with the Pheromones for the Monteith Multi-Systems. No wonder they are selling like hot cakes.

Just back from Craigellachie no fresh fish caught, my fishing pal had a big kelt from the Broom Isle pool. The fish fought hard for 10mins and had us hoping that it was a fresh fish but not to be. One from the Tunnel pool opposite bank 9lb s/liced. I saw acouple of fish heading and tailing thru the Garden pool late afternoon.First time on this beat and we both enjoyed it. Many thanks to Peter for his assistance throughout the day. The kelt took a Blue Charm size 8 on intermediate line.Tight lines to all who have days booked on the beat.

I hear rumours of unrest at Craigellachie - what is the storey? I don't know the Beat and I don't know the ghillie but I hear from a good source that the Ghillie, Peter ? has walked off the job and is unlikely to return. One of the ghillies from Invery on the Dee will act as a standin next week pending the arrival of the new guy (from Tulchan maybe ?). EOE
