Clag The other fact is that theyre getting away with charging more as youve pointed out. Sadly the market seems to stand it for whatever reason as I don't see any availability on Fishtweed. It must have pissed the good anglers off to see Tweed beat prices rocket over the last few years. I don't think though that the new breed of Tweed fishers would catch any more fish than the old team who no longer are willing to pay the money. I've seen it so many times on the Tay where an experienced rod who knows the game takes the only fish or two for the day even on a day when the beat is full. Found out tonight that the Tweed levy is £70 per fish charged to the beat owners Regards Jock

that really adds to the debate!! As you's are saying its the rich folk who cant fish that are fishing the tweed now. So with the rod catch still on the up over the last 5 seasons, imagine what the catch would be with good anglers on the river every day!!!

I think that if the Tweed are fully let, catching 6-700 fish a week at the moment and they have others copying their approach that they must be doing something right. Interesting that fishing causes discussion, whether things are going well or not.............. Must be the off-season (outwith the Tweed anyway)
