Seeing as Rob has been so kind as to organise the fuishing, it's only fair that I try to organise a piss up (this could backfire on me but it's a risk I'm prepared to take). I'm not sure how far anyone involved in this has to travel (apart from Rob) but does anyone know of any (reasonably priced) hotels in the area which can cope with possibly up to 12 guys who may (or may not) be involved in drinking copious amounts of alchohol on the Friday night? The next day's fishing participants will be excused 1 hour before first light ;D. Rowdiness , singing and bagpipes may be involved at any time, failing that, just a quiet discussion about the huge numbers of 40lb ers that we pulled out of the river that day and how proud we are of the Tweed record smashing day we had . Probably to include our hopes that the Saturday is even better . I'm not sure about you chaps but a few beers after a good shift on the river is almost a religion for me, a lot of beers after a bad shift is essential. And a Saturday morning walk is almost as important as the preceeding mountain of scrambled chicken babies IMO. Muchos Gracias in advance.

I'd say your best bet would be to find accommodation in Melrose - at least there's a good choice of pubs with some decent ale - the ale to be found in some of the more local pubs is 'disappointing' to say the least.

Salmondan, I like your approach to salmon fishing. We will have to "fish" together sometime.

John, you have pm Jock, as they say, there's more to fishing than catching fish ;D. Any time my friend. Edit: 1st recommendation for digs (thanks CLaG) www.buccleucharmshotel.co.uk/index.phpThe group booking price seems quite reasonable IMO. To the best of my knowledge, it's about 15-20 mins drive from beat and has drying facilities and secure rod storage.

Nothing booked as of yet. Suggestions? There are a ton of places to stay in the area. My personal preference would be for a town pub type. Something like "Traquair Arms hotel" (not sure of price there) or "Corner House Hotel" (looks like £30 pppn), both shown on this page www.visitsouthernscotland.com/accommodation/searchres.asp?TownID=131&TownID2=103&TownID3=105I'm not that keen to spend much more than £45 or £50 a night on accommodation as once rod price, fuel, food and beer are factored in it starts to get expensive. If you guys fancy any of the places on the above link and we can all agree on one, I'm happy to organise everything and try to get us a discount for a block booking somewhere.
