Was thinking the same James - wish i was there, sure i could have got hold of one ;D Lummels is also great in big water as im sure you know.
I know Gordon was fishing today with at least one other rod. When he fished opening day last year they had 9 kelts.

What's all this with counting kelts? Gillies shaking hands with the rod after landing a kelt?
We will be calling them Black Salmon or Downstreamers next.

The pic on the Dee website of the first springer caught looks more like a kelt with its floppy body, a true springer would be firm in the stomach, yet that fish that is pictures is all floppy, not a springer in my eyes

Can't see anything wrong with that, looks like a lovely fresh springer to me.

Does anybody know the salmon rod catch for season 2006?
Would be interested to know the Sea Trout catch too?

Graham, sorry, I meant Crathes. I thought I had read you and WG were fishing there. Maybe it's next week.

Looking forward to fishing Park South on the 15th, which will be my first time on the Dee ;D. Fishing with a mate from work and his mate so fingers and everything else crossed for a cracking day, can't wait. Any tips for this beat would be welcomed . Hornet

First Dee springer of 7lb ;D. taken on a Willie / Dog Conehead. Hooked another fish on my Hornet PBP but unfortunately it got off but for the time it was on it felt a decent fish. The beat produced another springer for a fellow guest angler which was around 8lb. Weather was kind and pretty mild with the wind in our favour. The two mates had 4 kelts. A cracking day and a lovely bit of water that i hope to fish again. Many Thanks Ken. Hornet

Unfortunately no as I'm banned from taking a camera. The last one fizzed when it hit the water . Ken the ghillie was further up the beat watching from distance. I hope the angler on the other bank can confirm with me as he watched me bank it. I got it on beat 3 which is just off a small island in mega fast water. It nailed my fly on the dangle where the other fish i lost took it on the retrieve. Glad to get off the mark and hopefully i can notch up another at Stracathro, N Esk tomorrow. ;D Hornet
