The Dee threads certainly proved popular during the spring last season, so thought i would start one up for this seasons spring fishing.
Looks like the river should be in good shape for opening day tomorrow and the weather kind - none of the grue like last years opening day.
Here's to another season heading in the right direction for this great river. Anybody fishing opening week?

Lucky you Jim. I'll have to wait until March )-: I would imagine fish will be well spread throughout the system. If the weather doesn't get colder then it could be one of those years where the upper beats fish well early on. Hope not though ((-:

Not till the end of the month - hopefully the river won't be all grued up like that time last year!
More northern climes for me next week....
Good luck to all who are out tomorrow!

As the 'Home' of greased-line fishing under A H E Wood, the pools are perfect for fly fishing at any height. With well maintained banks and no obstructions this is 'carpet slipper' fishing at normal spring levels.

Good to here plenty of members out on the river during February, so i'm sure we will get plenty of 'hands-on' reports.
My first trip to the Dee is the final week of March at Woodend which i'm really looking forward to, then returning further upstream in early May.

I remember Graham wading one of the pools where the fabled walk ways have been washed away, I watched for a while then had to turn away, the thought of having to watch a good man drown was too much for me. Nothing would have persuaded me io enter the water.

Hopefully I will be fishing Cairnton on Saturday, providing I get back on time from offshore. I think Middle Blackhall is opposite Cairnton so please leave me a fish

Malcolm, Graham, would be interested to hear if any of the pools have changed on Brian's beat with the floods last year. Please report back any new hot spots (-:
Hope you all get a fish today.

Off to Park this morning for the opening ceremony and then downstream to Maryculter for my first cast, Not quite sure what to expect as it is so very warm, but the river is at an excellent level and beginning to slowly drop. It will be nice to be out no matter what!

3 fish so far from the Dee, as Graham says it could be a great day on the river with excellent conditions.

I see Invery got off to a bad start today I would guess this must be the best start to the Dee season for a longtime. Let's hope it continues.

Apart from the 8 springers incl. sparkling 13 & 14pdrs., the experienced rods had 28 kelts. No fish showing, just grabbing !!
