Things are looking good for the next week!!! went out today and lost 1 and landed a nice 8lber with a few sea lice! malcom, for monday you should 'fork out' for some garden flies!!!! ;D there are now good numers of fish evedent. Good to meeet you on Weds Blair. Well done on the fish, which pool did they come from? We got up early on Thursday before our flight and fished from the cemetry down. There were some good fresh fish showing but alas they weren't interested in our flies. Next time. Just about got the hang of that nifty trick you did to get the fly to hand with a full line out. Saved me some serious time over the day in stripping in and working the line back out. Cheers Jon

I'd like to add my thanks to Jon's for your help, Blair. Thanks also to JJ for his tips. My first trip to Speyside finished fishless but making a return trip only more essential. Looks like you could fall on your feet with water conditions next week, Springer.

Yup - or in my case knackering my back! Wish I'd seen that trick on day 1!
Good luck with the exams Blair - hope you get out to play this weekend!
All in all what a lovely river and with the fish showing, albeit on the last day, it made the fishing all the more feverish - much to the detrement of my casting!
I found myself on the 6am from Bristol to London this morning, wishing I were putting a line over the fish so "tightlines" to anyone fishing over the next few days - I'm sooo envious.

I s'pose it's a bit masochistic but wondering if lots of lovely salmon and sea trout are being caught...
... jammy gits.
Had a fleeting thought to just take a days leave seeing as I'm in Rosyth the next two days with work, dismissed as the wife is experiencing some complications with our first wee bairn.
Either way I'm wishing I was up there putting a line over the silver.
Ho hum

Great report and pics Springer, with a Spey springer bonus as well. Did you get to see any of the more famous beats, other than Knockando?

Massacre? Visit the Grantown web site www.speyfishing-grantown.co.uk/aboutclub.htm You will note the large number of salmon caught on the "Spin" (= Rapalla) from the Lurg and Long Pool last Thursday 31 May - 30+. Well done Strath Macallan Locals - except, almost to a man it is alleged those salmon were chapped and a larger unspecified number of sea trout went the same way (sneaked away in black bags). I've now had that reported from two independent (and utterly appalled) witnesses. Jeez in this dismal spring would a spokesman for 'Local Worthies are Always Innocent inc' please explain why the witnesses were wrong and this hasn't happened - especially as it breaches all the Spey guidelines and selling rod caught salmon is illegal. CLaG Strathspey Angling Association reported 24 for the week, I think "Massacre" is a bit strong How do your independent witnesses know the that the Spey Boards guidelines were broken? Have they been stalking anglers to ensure that they are retaining and selling their fish, how do they know that these anglers had not already returned 1 or more fish? I am anti spinning but over hyped posts like yours do not help anyone.
