Copper toby. The fish are waiting for a competent fly fisher !. Amazingly the river has only risen four inches in the past couple of days and is sitting at 2ft 3 inches, that is'nt a bad height, The fish will stop in some areas long enough for you to have a crack at them, It will be a full house on Saturday, as usual. There is plenty of room though as long as the river doe'snt get too high.

Yesterday and today were difficult for the fly men with that strong cold east wind, so I put the spinner men down stream of the hut, very sheltered,Two fish today, Copper toby and yellow flying C,one yesterday on a blue x-rap rapala. I'd love for all the fish to be caught on the fly rod BUT the market says cater for all and the shillings will come in!. River dropped two inches today but is still at 2ft. The Ericht was low today but the Isla was high and running black according to Johnny at Coupar Grange at lunchtime., Lets hope the East wind drops away for Saturday,.

I fished Kercock today, and there were two other forum members fishing - Owen and Jeff.
However, it was a poor result for the forum with none of us getting fish, but not a poor result for the beat. There were six fresh fish landed, everyone a gleamer.
Dennis, the ghillie, was on hand again with excellent advice and help.

The score was .... Cutlery.........Five..... cascade tube ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,one ! Enjoyment factor..............Superb (My opinion). Thing is, This is the best spring according to the records, ever. Yesterday being the best spring day, ever. .............Why,I have no idea, however, in 2001 we had the foot and mouth and fishing was almost nil, five years on ,its bingo time. Could that be the reason ?

The word cutlery fell in with my sense of humour, make of that what you will ! Yes it is spinner type stuff,Yesterday I think it went along the lines of 2 to an 18g toby 2 to the floating devon .1 to a 28g copper toby and one to the" cascade "tube fly . Maybe tomorrow will be the opposite way round, maybe the darlings will be gone. Life is full of maybe's.

Kercock,
You're right about the enjoyment factor, apart from the cold northerly in the morning. Even though I never got a fish, it was good to see the broad smiles of those that did.
Can build a dam to stop the fish moving through before Saturday ;D
