What are you guys expecting to happen in September - usually your most prolific month? Hopefully more of the same with fish filling up the lower beats' pools. And hopefully enough fish to drag a very poor Dee season back to an average or above season. With higher water this season, the fish are running steadily without being held up in Aberdeen at Legart T. I think the runs we are seeing now would, in recent years, have been backing up at Garthdee waiting on water.

TyneAndrew,
I think Sloggi is spot on and the current run of fish are those that get held up lower down from late June onwards.
Fingers crossed that this is just the beginning of the back end run and the levels stay good (lowish) coming into September, which is usually the Lower beats best month of the season.
I suppose time will tell

Sloggi good runs of fish pushing through lower Dee the now. Spent 3 days this week & caught 7,lost as many & also rugs tugs & yards of the reel. All bars of Silver & sea lice.
Lets hope the current water level holds or even rises again.
Tight lines

Tight lines Good to see fish - being the lower Dee, they are usually sea-liced which is even better We do need more residents though to hold the fresh fish back a bit. Where did you have your success? Tight lines

Deesidecaster, Well done, pity the water has risen today...Need to be more careful what you wish for. I was advised that there was a big run of fish yesterday, as the lower beats did well again SAY

Hello Dee experts. What do you think of the chance of some decent fish up at Crathie next weekend ? I had a cracking day up there in May and booked next Saturday just to have another look at it. Do you think with all the water we might see some fresh fish up there ? Apologies if this looks like a daft question however my Dee exploits have been limited to Park and Kincardine & Borrowstone and I'm not too sure what to expect further up at this time of year.

It's fishing well - you should be fine.

My mate Grant Mackenzie and his father were on Blairs yesterday. They had 7,lost a few and had countless plucks and pulls. They said fish were running hard all day.
Also heard that the extension of the season to the 15th of October has been accepted (from Aboyne Bridge down), don't know if it will start this season or next.

Were they all on a Ness C - watched him with admiration doing the biz last season at Blairs? I would assume the extension, if agreed, would only begin next season due to logistics.

Each and every one on the nessc.
Grant has done well on Blairs over the last 3 years, seems to be a better beat than the figures state, either that or Grant has been a very lucky man.

Blairs is fine at this time of the year. Fish start holding in the Blair's Run and also up in the Powberry. Feb-Jul it is like so many of the much lower beats in that the fish run through very quickly. Was he using a sinker?

He was using a floater. He is a typical Ness fisher, Floating line or sink tip throughout the season. It certainly does the biz for him.
