I see there is another one in the book today. Lets hope this is a good sign for the Tay and the rest of the UK's spring run but common sense is telling me this could well just be down to the very mild weather we have had over the last 2 months.

There seems to be a few about wilbert, both of this week's fish have been caught (and returned) in the morning when there has been a fair amount of kelt activity ie,splashing around. In the afternoon nothing and no kelt activity either. Can it be kelts moving through and disturbing the kelts,a subject spoken of many times on the river. I notice too that at present we are well away from a full moon yet I expect to get fresh fish either side of a full moon. We have certainly had our share of mild weather, however this past week we have had a fair amount of frosty mornings, including this morning -2c

myself, Kelliefly, Milos and Crawfish all managed a day together on Kercock yesterday (Saturday) and a great day it was! Dennis was great as usual and gave me a few casting lessons off the left shoulder but i did get better as time went on and the wind dropped! Weather was beautiful... more like May than mid-Feb! and Grant got off to a good start wth a fish inside half an hour...... a good strong fight and some flashes of silver, and it looked like a fresh fish, but alas, it was a weel mended Springer! about 15lb or 16lb..... surely a 20+ when fresh run? Fish was returned and off like a bullet! twenty minutes later and i was in!! my first Salmon.... all be it a kelt! but i was over the moon ;D ;D ;D You've never seen someone so happy to catch a kelt before! and on my hometied fly! even better! Safely returned. Half an hour later i hooked and lost another on the same fly and then lunch time. Fished the lower beat in the afternoon, but no luck really. Grant lost a fish on the spinned last thing, and i and Crawfish a wee pull, but i did manage a brownie about 2lb aswell. Great day had by all and great company! Look forward to giving it another go in the near future..... and my duck is ( kind of... but not quite!!) broken??

Sorry John, just seen your post . Well done mate, as the lads have said, the only difference is the actual fish itself , the take is the same, the fight is generally the same, the heart pumping is the same . Keep it up and its only a matter of time. Gary
